Guide to the Species
Humanoids -- The most common species in the solar system is something similar to humans. They speak english, for the sake of simplicity in roleplay, but there may be some weird alien slang floating around depending on the dialect/history of the character.
Beasts -- Beasts are occasionally spotted in the wilderness on the planets, and it is rumored that the higher forms of animals can speak and have created their own small societies. Beasts often resemble Earthly animals, but are quite often much larger and more developed than our animals. Very little is known about them, as they mostly keep to themselves. Because of the rarity of these creatures, there may be a limit set on the number of Beast characters allowed in the roleplay.
Hybrids -- There can be occasional hybrids between species, and the exact design and features of the character is left up to the roleplayer, but it is requested that the general makeup of the two species be kept in mind. Alien hybrids are more common, and while beast hybrids do exist, they are very rare to find.
Aliens -- There are several species of aliens, some more alternative than others. A list with general information about each species is below. This guide is still in development, so expect more alien species to be added soon.
Yrais-- Yrais are the main inhabitants of Ietyrai, as they are able to survive without oxygen and 'swim' through the empty space between land masses. They are a very interesting cross between humans and sealife. They have wide hands and feet with retractable webs, and thick, finned tails. Their skin is thick and smooth, and slippery when damp, and their hair grows in slippery, thick locks. Their skin is often pale green, blue, or grey in color, and their hair varies from brighter shades of green, blue, and purple. They have gills on the sides of their heads which they use for breathing and hearing. They have built complex but somewhat primitive villages on the strange planet, mostly using what they could find and carving out structures. They are very simple creatures, as far as fashion and lifestyle goes, but many of them are known to be excellent craftsmen, artists, and engineers. Ietyrai is legendary for it's high quality export wares and talented workers. The Yrais are a peaceful group, rarely finding a need to establish a government force within their society. They are one of the most common species next to humans.
Q'sik-- The Q’Sik are mainly known for their natural beauty, empathic abilities and manipulative skills. They originate from the planet Arsima of the sister system, and even though they are not often seen on Vetusolum, they are not an uncommon sight on Patria. They are in general not a people to wage war, but prefer diplomatic solutions where their social abilities give them the advantage. Their anatomy is very much like a human's with a few differences. Q’Siks have no hair growth on their bodies, their skin colour ranges from light blue to deep purple, they are slightly more slender build and are slightly higher. They generally live to be around 150 years of age due to their higher level of white blood cells. This also makes their blood significantly lighter in colour. The last major difference is their heads. Were humans hairline would start, Q’Siks flesh and skin divides into rows that follow the skull to the back of their neck likewise the same kind of row go from the back of their neck, to the top of the back of the head crossing under the other rows. In the middle at the top of their forehead two tenticular appendages, better known as ‘head-tails’, grow. These head-tails are very sensitive, and are the key to the Q’Siks empathic abilities. It is considered very rude to touch a Q’Siks head-tails, just about as rude as grabbing the breast of a woman.
Passiflori-- The Passiflori are a race of plant, amphibian-like beings. Mainly they inhabit the swamplands and deep jungles of Vetusolum, keeping to themselves and blending in with their environment. They resemble a passion flower, if the flower was sentient and moving, and vaguely humanoid. They're just a bit smaller than humans, probably around four and half feet tall. Passiflori have elongated necks and a small head, and large reflective eyes that just stare, as they have no eyelids. Their arms and legs are made up of hundreds of curly vines which separate so that the plants can climb or wrap around just about anything. They don't move well if their vines are separated, unless they're climbing. The leaves are limbs too, and are usually used to cover the alien's form, and vital organs, making a sort of cocoon. When the leaves open up, the flower that makes up the torso is revealed. The flower has glowing petals of pink, white or purple or various colors, all of which are soft, pure and almost "heavenly". Their skin is usually a different color to the petals, and a deeper, richer shade. They smell absolutely wonderful... Which adds to their charm, but also has quite a negative effect. Because of the scent, a lot of Passiflori are put into labs, with the aim to reproduce their aroma as a perfume or harvest their nectar. They have a mane of stamen around their necks, which is where the pollen waits to be released over a mate, like usual plants. These aliens are both genders, since they can pollinate each other and both produce children. Their children are born as a fruit inside them, and they eat their way out of their parents, like tadpoles. These aliens are often forced into slavery, because their fruit are quite possibly the tastiest things in the universe, and so their children are often taken away before they can grow. They spread like wildfire though. They are quite knowledgeable about herbs and plants, and therefor are often seen as the most talented healers and shamans in the universe. It is common for people to go deep into the swamps and seek out Passiflori in the hopes of getting advice or medical treatment.
Mivrae-- The Mivrae (Singular: Mivra) are an all-male nomadic race that travels the vast space in search of other races with whom they can interbreed. The Mivrae are capable of breeding with any race, however the result happens to be a little different. Due to the potent and very dominant DNA of this race, the offspring will have roughly 80% chance of being a Mivra and around 20% chance of being of the other species. It is this very cycle of reproduction, which has given the Mivra a cause to travel the space. By now not many Mivra know from where their species even originated. Physically the Mivrae stand between 3'5'' and 4'5'' tall, the average Mivra being 4'. Despite their small size, the Mivra are quite heavy as their muscles are dense and powerful. This is also the reason the average Mivra are about as strong as 3 full grown male humanoids, with matching endurance for physical tasks. Of course this strength varies between individuals. This density also means that Mivra can't swim as they would simply sink to the bottom and die. The Mivra are roughly feline in appearance, their bodies being covered with short, very soft fur, feeling kind of like velvet. The only exception to this is their mane or hair. The mane is made of a much rougher more durable type of hair that never stops growing. To a Mivra this mane is everything, as the length and condition of the mane will quickly show off ones social status. The longer the mane the better, and if it's decorated with warrior braids and maintained so that the rough hair is smooth and shiny even better! A Long and flourishing mane is also a sign that one is a great warrior, as it takes quite a lot of skill to fight with that much hair in the way. In the middle of their forehead the Mivrae have a obsidian black horn that spirals. The horns can vary in length and are often decorated or painted. They have big long ears helping their already excellent hearing and dark markings around the eyes to help shield out excess sunlight. The Mivrae have long forelimbs and while their upper arms can look all too thin for their strength, their lower arms have a great thickness before ending in powerful and big paws with black claws ready to rip apart prey. Their hind-Paws are equally big, and while the Mivrae are fully capable of waling upright, they cannot run upright and will go down on all fours in order to move at greater speed. If the race that inhabits whatever planet the Mivrae visits walk upright, then the Mivrae will too, even if it looks kind of comical when they waddle away with their big paws. They do have a tail, though it is short and mostly useless, reaching down only halfway across their rump. When it comes to colours there are three primary colours a Mivra can have. The most prominent of these are earthy tones much like an Earthen Lion. Aside from this the Mivrae can also be either entirely black, or entirely white (except for the claws). Their eyes are always golden amber, despite what colour their fur might possess. When/if a Mivrae gets old the mane will always fade to grey or white and their short fur will also be stained by grey hair, especially around the eyes and mouth. When it comes to mentality, most Mivrae are rather childish in nature. They often exhibit mischievous behaviour and a stubborn temper whenever something doesn't happen the way they want it to. These beings are not know for patience and will often run around and pester people if bored, something they become very easily. While aggressiveness isn't always prominent in a Mivra, it's still quite common for them to become irritated or angry easily and some Mivrae are outright violent. Young Mivrae tend to have trouble keeping focus, though this disappears as they mature. Unfortunately this also mean that most Mivrae have trouble finding jobs outside of stuff that use their strength and endurance. This has led many a young Mivrae into a life of crime. Mivrae are capable of intelligence, in fact they can be just as cunning as a humanoid, but because of their wild, over-energized bodies, they rarely have the time or patience to sit down and actually do something with their minds. It's only when a Mivrae mature into old age that they begin to make something of their minds, which is why it is always the elders that lead in Mivra-society. The average Mivra can live to become around 140-160 years old, however not many live past 50, either due to working away their bodies, diseases or simply because their impulsive curious nature got the best of them. The Mivrae are the leading cause of Mivrae fatality.
