Guide to the Galaxy
Solar System Stars -- This is a binary star system. The stars are called Solis and Levis, Solis being the larger.
Patria -- Patria is the central planet, and the home of the solar system's government. It is the largest planet, and could be considered the most advanced when it comes to technology and lifestyle. It's climate and land wildlife on the surface are similar to that of one of our rain forests, and would be a fine place to live if it weren't for the beasts roaming around. The people have therefore decided to build their cities on high platforms up in the clouds, and venture below the treetops very rarely. The largest cities are beautiful and clean, full of the highest class citizens of the solar system. Some of the smaller villages are not quite as advanced, but still far more technologically advanced than some of the lower class towns on the other planets.
Carcer Carcer is the smaller of Patria's two inhabitable moons. Located on and below it's surface is the largest prison in the galaxy, as well as some government scientific testing facilities. The most dangerous criminals are kept here, because escape is virtually impossible. The surface is mostly rock, and while the moon has a thin atmosphere of breathable air, most people don't spend too much time in the open. The moon has only one port, so coming and leaving is difficult without the knowledge and consent of the government officials.
Plurimi Plurimi is the larger of Patria's two moons that are fit for living creatures. Important government facilities and high tech laboratories are located here, as are some experimental civilian homes that were put in place to test new technology. The surface has some plant life, and people have even started to attempt gardening and raising lesser animals on the surface.
Vetusolum -- Vetusolum is an older, smaller planet than Patria, and slightly less developed than the central planet. The planet is mostly made of waterways and marshes, and the people there have adapted to living on boats and in small stilt villages in the bayous and rural areas. There are a few small cities in the flatter, dryer areas, but they are hardly anything compared to the cities on Patria. Even so, the people on Vetusolum are happy to go about their lives without having to control everything or have the most advanced gadgets or the fanciest new cities. They embrace some of the older traditions... and some of the stranger ones.
Aurora Aurora is a beautiful moon with a large trading outpost, some government buildings, and specialized farming areas. With rich soil and lush green plants, it is the only known inhabitable moon in Vetusolum's orbit. (However, there are rumors of other livable moons being discovered and taken advantage of by secret groups who needed a place to hide their work.)
Sukilti -- Sukilti is the farthest inhabited planet in the system. It is a disorderly, rundown place with many wild rural areas where only the toughest can survive. The planet is most plainly described as a large molten rock riddled with holes. Most of the cities are underground, and they are magnificent in their own way, but living on Sukilti is not for the fainthearted. It is considered the rebel planet, and the central government of the solar system has all but given up on trying to keep the people of Sukilti under their control.
Ietyrai -- Ietyrai is hardly considered a planet at all--it is more of a number of large land masses and moons connected to one another with both natural and unnatural bridges. There is no breathable air (by human standards), and visitors are required to bring their own oxygen. The main inhabitants are the Yrais, aliens that are able to survive in these conditions and 'swim' through the empty space between land masses. The Yrais are gifted mechanics and miners, the major export of the 'planet' being an invaluable amount of minerals and mechanical goods. The Trais live in mostly small mining towns and big industrial cities. They are governed by the main government, but monitored by their own town mayors.
Ruined Planets -- At the edge of the solar system is a handful of ruined, uninhabitable planets. There are many rumors about these rocks- some say people used to live on them, but everyone was wiped out or moved elsewhere for whatever reason. Others say there is still life on these planets... but if there is something living out there, no one knows what it might be, or how it has managed to survive.
Intelligent Life Many different creatures can be found in this solar system, including humanoids, a variety of aliens, beasts, and hybrids. For more information, check out the Guide to the Species.
General Technology -- This solar system is loosely based around the steampunk genre, but with a slightly futuristic feel. Everything is powered by steam, but engineers have also developed some technologies to allow space travel. Old-fashioned water and air ships have been modified to travel through areas with little gravity. The ships themselves are outfitted with artificial gravity and miniature oxygenated atmospheres that are activated when needed. Travelers are always outfitted with protective gear and gas masks for whenever needed.
Society -- The solar system is governed by an elite group called the Council. The Council is basically a handful of dictators with a big army to back them up, and so people listen to them. They control the civilians, set forth laws, govern cities, direct the law enforcement, and run experiments with technology and ways of living. Then there are the Guilds, which are groups of craftsmen who are less affected by the Council, and try to keep more direct contact with the civilians whom they service. There is a guild for any and every sort of skill for which one might require training. Most young people are sent to become a guild apprentice at a certain age, or else they go into their parents' trade.
